Club News

A lovely evening Club Night in Wimborne on Monday, organised by WIM, saw about 40 people take part in one of two score events: an Odds and Evens (for those who can run round the town twice!) and a ‘straight’ score (i.e. any order). Needless to say, I chose the latter one! Gavin Clegg managed to pip Dale Paget to 1st place on the Odds and Evens – beating him by 21 seconds! Whilst Ian Sayer easily won the ‘straight’ score event (he should really have been doing the other one – he’s far too good!)

The runs were followed by a very sociable  (and free) buffet and then the presentation of prizes for the 2016/17 Wessex Region Night League. Gavin Clegg managed to win both the Men’s Handicapped and Non-Handicapped Leagues, while Charlotte Thornton (Sarum) won (again!) the Ladies Handicapped League and Annie Pickering (WIM) the Non-Handicapped. Full League results can be found on the League page of this website.

And for the 2017/18 season, we apparently have a possible 20 events to look forward to! Many thanks to Gavin for collating all these events and for overseeing the results and tables.

Now the Summer’s here (meteorologically speaking!), the Summer League is up and running. This is a series of existing events that Chris Branford has collated to create a League, for which there are trophies to be won!

Here’s the full list: 2017 Summer League

IMPORTANT NOTE: THE DATE OF THE POOLE TOWN RACE IS VERY LIKELY TO BE CHANGED AS THE MARITIME FESTIVAL IS HAPPENING IN THE TOWN THAT DAY. CONFIRMATION TO BE GIVEN SOON.

Finally, take a look at Jolyon’s recent post here – it makes interesting reading for some of the older members of the club (and anyone, in fact!)
